Common Sense Self Defence and Assault Prevention
Course Duration - 3 Hours


Description of Syllabus

This course provides basic skills of incident avoidance and assault prevention to increase your personal safety.

This course combines discussion and legal issues with a fully hands on approach. The instructors include police officers and qualified martial arts instructors. The course provides a combination of strategies and is suitable for all ages and physical capabilities.

Course Content

Module 1

Personal Safety Strategies

Discussion covers the fear of crime, developing a personal safety plan, assertiveness and posture, confrontation, control, action or inaction and the use of force. This module includes alternative strategies where force is either not suitable or required.

Module 2

Striking Techniques

(a) Defensive positioning
(b) Target awareness
(c) Natural body weapons
(d) Striking and kicking techniques

Module 3

Techniques of defence

(a) Balance retention, distance awareness and avoidance procedure
(b) Body contact assaults
(c) Defence from negative positions (Seated, on ground).

Please Note: - This course contains basic self defence techniques. An advanced defence tactics course, 8 hrs in duration, is also available.
